How to Get Here

By Air - The nearest airport is Edinburgh. It’s about a 1 hour 20 minutes drive away. There are lots of low cost carriers flying into Edinburgh. When you think about it, if you are coming from the city of London, you could be at Deloraineshiel within a few hours! Glasgow and Newcastle airports are also close by, about 2 and a half hours drive away. You will need to hire a car at the Airport. The drive through the Borders countryside is worth it.

By Car/Bike - A warning about your TomTom/GPS, it’s wrong. If you put the postcode TD97NG, it will try to take you on a route from the B7009 and over a track to the cottage. That’s wrong as the track is not a one way road and it’s not a through road either. Anyone who can convince someone to correct this error gets a reward. The correct route is to enter the track to the cottage from the B711. The entrance is marked with a sign post. Aim for West Buccleuch, the cottage is between West Buccleuch and Redford Green. From the A7, take the B711 road towards Roberton and keep going.

By Rail - The nearest rail stations are Tweedbank (Border Railway). Lockerbie (served by Virgin Trains, First Trans Pennine and Scotrail), Edinburgh Waverley or Haymarket and Berwick Upon Tweed (England) are also close. However, you will still need a car to get to us.

If you are planning a day trip to Edinburgh, park your car at Tweedbank station and go for the day! It’s much easier than driving in and the views are wonderful. Click here for information on the Border Railway.
